Our Story: A Legacy of Sustainability and Empowerment

THE BEGINNING

Fourtee Acres Farm began as a dream—a dream to preserve our family’s land, honor our heritage, and create a sustainable future for generations to come. Established in 1994, our 45-acre farm is part of a larger, 195-acre century-owned family farm in Eastern North Carolina. Rooted in minority family ownership, we’ve grown to embody the principles of sustainability, community, and legacy building.

Our story

Embracing Our Legacy

We embrace our past, where resilience and determination shaped our journey. Through forestry, farming, and natural gardening, we’ve created a thriving operation that not only sustains our family but uplifts the community around us. From cultivating crops to legacy planning consultations, every initiative reflects our deep commitment to preserving our land and empowering others to do the same.

Building Community with F.A.R.M.

Out of this legacy, the Fourtee Acres Resource Market (F.A.R.M.) was born. This non-profit organization connects small, predominantly BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) farmers and landowners with the resources they need to thrive. Through financial aid, technical assistance, educational programs, and advocacy, F.A.R.M. is transforming challenges into opportunities and fostering equity in agriculture.

A Vision for the Future

Our story is not just about the past—it’s about the future we are building together. We envision a thriving and equitable agricultural community where BIPOC farmers and landowners have the resources, support, and opportunities to succeed. By blending innovation with tradition, we’re creating a roadmap for sustainable farming, economic resilience, and generational wealth.
